Year of Literature 1995

Material relating to events surrounding 1995's Year of Literature and in particular the involvement of Women in Jazz , including proposals, aims and objectives and mission statement; funding applications and responses; press release; correspondence; and press cuttings. Jen Wilson was appointed a member of the 1995 Year of Literature General Advisory Group. Together with material relating to double bassist Paula Gardiner, pianist Stan Tracey and trumpeter Cris Haines, who were each commissioned by Swansea University's Department of Adult Continuing Education to compose new works to celebrate the Year of Literature.

Although this was a British-wide celebration of literature and the arts, Swansea's successful bid to host the Arts Council's Year of Literature in 1995 meant that the majority of events were held in and around that city.

Workshops for women in swing band, jazz and blues

Material relating to a series of Jazz Heritage Wales/Women in Jazz-run workshops for women musicians and vocalists held at Swansea Metropolitan University's Townhill campus, September 2009 to August 2010, with a view to forming a new swing band; together with material relating to subsequent performances given by the band (known as the Allstars Swing Band) at the 1911 Llanelli Railway Strike Gala Concert, held at Theatr Elli, Llanelli, 7 October 2011, and at a Charity World Music Night held at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, 14 October 2011.

Women in Jazz 20th Anniversary events

Material relating to events held to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Women's Jazz Archive/Women in Jazz, highlighted by a gala evening at Swansea's Dylan Thomas Centre featuring Women in Jazz patron Dame Cleo Laine, which also included a performance of Before Freedom; together with material relating to funding for the anniversary events. The gala evening coincided with events to mark Black History Month in October 2006.

Voluntary Arts Wales conference

Conference schedule and correspondence relating to the Celfyddydau Gwirfoddol Cymru/Voluntary Arts Wales conference titled Yn Llawn Haeddu'r Sylw/Worth Making A Song And Dance About, held at Craig y Nos Castle in the Swansea Valley, 2-3 November 2002, at which Jen Wilson provided musical entertainment. While there is a possibility that she may have attended the remainder of the conference as a delegate, there is no definite evidence that Jen Wilson gave a talk during the event.

University College of Wales, Swansea research seminar

Notice of paper titled Gender Issues and Women's Music, to be presented by Jen Wilson at a research seminar held at University College of Wales, Swansea's Department of Adult Continuing Education, 28 January [?1993]; together with text relating to women's rĂ´le in music and reference to a talk by Dr Roberta Lamb titled Music, Gender and Education, to be given at Bristol University, 27 March 1993.

Tower Ballroom Project/Vintage Dance

Material relating to Jazz Heritage Wales's Tower Ballroom Project, which involved the collection of local people's reminiscences, anecdotes, photographs, etc about the Tower Ballroom, Swansea, these to be used in exhibitions at both Jazz Heritage Wales and the Phoenix Centre, Swansea. Together with material relating to performances by the Women in Jazz Allstars Swing Band at a Vintage Dance held 23 March 2012 at Townhill Community Centre, Swansea as part of the Tower Ballroom Project.

Swansea Writers' and Artists' Group (SWAG)

Material relating to the Swansea Writers' and Artists' Group (SWAG), of which Jen Wilson was a member, including correspondence; agendas and minutes of group meetings; press releases; SWAG constitution and list of members; invitations to SWAG social events; accounts; press cuttings; posters and flyers; and copies of the group's magazine, SwagMag.
