Ben G. Jones (1914-1989) was a solicitor and a Liberal politician. He unsuccessfully contested Merionethshire for the Liberals in 1959 and served as Chairman of the Council on the Welsh Language between 1973 and 1978. From 1982 to 1989, he was President of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion. He also served on the Crowther (later the Kilbrandon) Commission on the Constitution, on the BBC General Advisory Council of Great Britain, on the Agricultural Land Tribunal and he was a Vice-President of University of Wales, Aberystwyth. He received the CBE in 1979.
