An early seventeenth century manuscript, fragile, written c. 1611-1621 and possibly earlier by Roger Williams, clerk, rector of the parish of St. Nicholas, co. Glamorgan [the scribe of parts of Llanstephan MS 41] and containing pedigrees, Welsh poetry, medical and veterinary recipes, etc. Roger Williams [TLLM, 41n, 213-4] was the son of Roger William of Prisk [in the parish of Llanddunwyd (Welsh St. Donats)] and he married Elinor Rees [daughter of Rhys Amheurug (Rees Merrick)]: his pedigree is on p. 27 of this manuscript (cf. Llanstephan MS 41, p. 173). A folio or folios are wanting at the beginning and someone has written the words 'The Isue [sic] of Gruffydd fawr [De Radyr]' opposite the first page (p. 4). Breese'. Owen Jones was for a short time a private tutor at BrynTanad (see The Dictionary of Welsh Biography). The spine is lettered 'Mannoethwy MSS'.

Typescript pedigrees, [1974], compiled by the donor, of the families of Rees James, Meifod, Montgomeryshire (f. 1), John Thomas and Elizabeth Williams of Trelech a'r Betws, Carmarthenshire, and Ohio (ff. 3-6), and the Evans family of Garthbeibio and Mallwyd, Montgomeryshire (f. 2), branches of the donor's family.
Also included are typescript transcripts, [?1974], of the marriage agreement of John Thomas and Elizabeth Williams, dated 4 July 1810 (ff. 7-9), and a letter, dated 23 September 1857, to them from Elizabeth's sister, Ann Davies (ff. 10-11).

A manuscript written c. 1573 (see f. 1) containing Kyvrinach y Beirdd (ff. 2-14a); and Humphrey Llwyd's English version of Brut y Tywysogion (ff. 1-227). The manuscript also includes poetry of Iolo Goch (f. 1); a rental of lordships in Powys (f. 228); and a Powys genealogy (f. 228b). Folios 229-232 are fragmentary and repaired.

Miscellaneous transcripts, abstracts, and extracts relating to Montgomeryshire, including transcripts or abstracts of entries of baptisms, marriages, and burials, 1661-1761, of marriages, 1813-1837, and of baptisms, 1813-1897, from the registers of the parish of Llanmerewig; abstracts of deeds, 1576-1809, relating to property in Montgomeryshire [extracted from The National Library of Wales Calendar of Deeds and Documents, Vol. 1, The Coleman Deeds (Aberystwyth, 1921)], with additional genealogical notes relating to the parties or witnesses; a transcript of an indenture of mortgage, 20 July 1743, relating to property in the township of Llanryney, parish of Llangerick (also mentioned in this document are property in Ludlow, co. Salop, and a forge or iron mill called Strangworth forge or mill in the parishes of Pembridge and Staunton upon Arrow, co. Hereford); a copy of a letter from Herbert M[illingchamp] Vaughan, to Mr. [John Bancroft] Willans, 1921 (tracing the writer's descent from Richard Herbert of Dolforgan, parish of Kerry, late seventeenth century, enclosing a copy of a document relating to Dorothy, viscountess Lisburne (see next item)); a transcript of a document headed 'Household Accounts of a Welsh Peeress in the XVIIIth century', being an account of the personal and household expenditure in 1744, of Dorothy [dowager] viscountess Lisburne, widow of John Vaughan, 2nd viscount Lisburne, and daughter of Captain Richard Hill of Hemblas [sic], Llanwnog, Montgomeryshire; copious extracts from the English Encyclopaedia (1859); and shorter extracts from Spons Dictionary of Engineering [ed. Oliver Byrne (London, 1869-1874)], fournal of the Iron and Steel Institute, Walter [Hume] Long (viscount Long): Memories . . . [(London, 1923)], and the report of the Poor Law Commissioners, 1834. Included also in the volume are extracts from George Gilbert Ramsay: The Annals of Tacitus ... [An English translation ... (1904)], and Burke's Extinct Peerage (1831).

Annotated abstracts of Arwystli and Estimaner probate records preserved in the District Probate Registry, Bangor, 1635-1855. MS. 11862 contains similar abstracts (partly from the papers of D. C. Ll[oyd-] O[wen]) of Montgomeryshire probate records preserved in Somerset House, 1681/2-1778. MS. 11862 is indexed. MS. 11863, compiled in 1924, contains extracts from the parish registers of Towyn, Pennal, and Talyllyn, 1663-1840, and extracts of Montgomeryshire interest from printed sources, including pedigrees and lists of contributions to the London Missionary Society, 1799, 1824, 1831-1832.
