Biographical history

Arthur Foulkes-Roberts (1864-1941) of Denbigh was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, Denbigh. He and his brother R.D. Roberts transcribed various parish registers, tombstone inscriptions, church memorials, probate, episcopal and diocesan records, mostly from Denbighshire and Flintshire.

Archival history

Given by the editor to the Rev. David Williams Evans, rector of St George, Abergele, in 1890 (see f. i), and later acquired from him by R. D. Roberts.

A volume containing the first of a limited edition of thirty copies of Frederick Arthur Crisp, The Parish Registers of Kegidog, alias St George, near Abergele, 1694-1750 (London, 1890). Genealogical and other notes by R. D. Roberts and A. Foulkes-Roberts are added or tipped in on f. ii verso, iv, pp. 1-52 passim. Also included is correspondence, 1890-1891, concerning the publication of the registers (pasted or tipped in on ff. i-ii, iv verso); press cuttings, 1928-1936, relating to the parishes of St George and Llanfair Talhaearn (pasted or tipped in on f. v verso, pp. 53-54); and the signatures, 1844-[c. 1845], of the Rev. Thomas Davies and the Rev. Charles Williams, curates of Holyhead, and the Rev. David Roberts, curate of Llangedwyn, Denbighshire (tipped in on f. iii verso).
