Five annotated proof copies of a three-scene play by Tony Curtis titled 'Augustus, Gwen and Nina', the narrative relating to the painters Augustus John and his sister Gwen John and to the artist and writer Nina Hamnett. Together with printed programme of the play's performance at Barry Island Community Centre, 30 May 2013. The following noted are written on the covers of each copy: 'May re-draft'; 'post chapter 11/5/12'; 'June re-draft'; 'June 7th version'; and 'Nov 2012'.
Together with typescript copy of the scene involving Nina Hamnett only titled 'Nina ... a one-act play', presumably an earlier draft of the final three-act version.

Painter, draughtsman and etcher Augustus John was born in Tenby. A star pupil at the Slade School of Art in London, where he studied from 1894-1898, he was considered one of the finest artists of his time. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustus_John; https://artuk.org/discover/artists/john-augustus-edwin-18781961)

Gwen John was a Welsh-born artist who lived and worked in France for most of her career, her paintings being mainly portraits of women and cats. Although overshadowed in her lifetime by that of her brother Augustus and her mentor and lover the sculptor Auguste Rodin, awareness and esteem for her work has grown considerably since her death. Like Augustus and Gwen John, the artist, designer, illustrator and writer Nina Hamnett was also born in Tenby. In the 1920s, she spent much of her time in Paris, where she associated with many leading figures of the avant-garde, while in London she was known as the 'Queen of Bohemia' due to her flamboyant and unconventional lifestyle.
