J. Ambrose Lloyd: Anthemau

  • NLW MS 22503D
  • File
  • c. 1843-1851

Tune book, c. 1843-1851, of John Ambrose Lloyd (1815-1874) containing anthems, mainly by J. Ambrose Lloyd himself, some apparently unpublished, including two composed for the use of the Temperance Choirs of Conwy and neighbourhood and performed at the North Wales Temperance Festival, 1852. The volume was used by the composer when choirmaster at Salem Welsh Congregational chapel, Brownlow Hill, Liverpool (see letter, 1934, from his granddaughter, Marianne Lloyd, tipped in on f. i) and is probably the Salem Chapel collection referred to in C. Francis Lloyd and Elfed, Cofiant John Ambrose Lloyd (Wrecsam, 1921).
