Biographical history
The Theological Board was a committee set up to advise the University Court. The Board, whose members were appointed by the Board under the chairmanship of an elected president, was responsible for recommending schemes of study and of examinations for degrees in the Faculty of Theology, and for recommending examination regulations and the choice of examiners. It also reported to the Court on the qualifications of associated Theological Colleges. The Board also broadly considered and reported any other matters concerning studies and examinations in theological subjects. It was dissolved as a result of the re-organisation of the University by Supplemental Charter in 1920 following the Report of the Royal Commission on University Education in Wales in 1918). Its functions were taken over by the Faculty of Theology in 1921, under the auspices of the Academic Board.
