Rebound, [early 19 cent.], in blind-tooled pigskin, on five raised bands with 'THESAURUS LINGUAE LATINA ET CAMBRO BRITANNICAE OPERA THOMAE GULIELMI', 'VOL 2 1608' and 'PORKINGTON MANUSCRIPT No 5' in gold on spine; inlaid into each cover is a blind-stamped panel, on a darker brown calf, c. 355 x 230 mm., from a binding, on four bands with two clasps by Nicholas Spierinck (d. 1545/6) of Cambridge, using his signed roll (cf. Howard M. Nixon, Five centuries of English bookbinding (London, 1978), no. 7, pp. 26-27), together with a diaper roll (Oldham no. 604), both also found on inlays on MS I.3; see also Brogyntyn MS I.36.

The notes 'R. Owen ex donis J: Morral Atturnatus' (f. iii) and 'Donum Jo: (Johanis) Morral at R. Owen' (f. 1) show that the volume was given to Sir Robert Owen (d. 1698) of Brogyntyn by John Morrall (d. 1688) of Cilhendre, Dudleston, Shropshire. 'Porkington Library Shelf 1 Case 4 No 3' on label inside front cover. Watermark in end-paper dated 1807.

A volume containing the second part of a transcript (begun in Brogyntyn MS I.9) by John Edwards, Plas Newydd, Chirk, of part of Thesaurus Linguæ Latinæ et Cambrobritannicæ... by 'Syr' Thomas Wiliems, Trefriw (now NLW Peniarth MS 228).
The contents continue the dictionary from E to Indeclinabilis and corresponds to Peniarth MS 228, vol. ii, ff. 2-113. The text is written in a neat italic hand, two columns on each page; the Latin words are written in red ink, the Welsh definitions in black, quotations from Welsh literature in green, and the names of authors and titles of the works quoted in purple. Spaces are sometimes left for the later addition of the Welsh quotations.
