Bound in at the end of the volume is an original power of attorney, 1674, of Oliver Thomas of Shewsbury [sic], Salop, yeoman, authorising his brother Thomas Rees of Llanymowthwey, Montgomeryshire, yeoman, to sue or to compound persons subscribed for specified debts (backed for the purpose of repairing by a printed prospectus of Robert Davies ('Bardd Nantglyn'): [Diliau Barddas, Dinbych, 1827]). The manuscript is written in several hands, among them that of Richard Foulks.

An imperfect manuscript of the late seventeenth century in the hand of Huw Morys, with copious additions in a number of early eighteenth century hands. It consists largely of 'cywyddau', 'carolau', 'cerddi' and 'dyrïau' by Huw Morys himself, with a few poems in both strict and free metres by Owen Gwynedd, Humphrey Owen, Simwnt Vychan, William Miltwn [Midleton, Myddelton], Doctor Sion Kent, Roger Kyffin, Sion Sgrufen and John Davies ('of Rhiwlas'), and anonymous poems. The volume is lettered 'Barddoniaeth Huw Morys'.

A collection of poetry transcribed by Dafydd Marpole during the period 1775-80. It includes 'cerddi', 'ymddiddanion', 'penillion', 'carolau', 'dyrïau', 'englynion', etc. by Evan Williams (1774), Rowland Hughes ('or Bala'), John (Sion) Griffydd, Hugh Morris, Roger Jones, R. Evan, Dafydd Marpole, Joseph Marpole (1767), John Marpole, Dafydd Evans ('o Lan Silin'), Morys Robert ('o blwy Maentwrog'), John Cadwaladr, Harri Bynner ('o blwy Llanfyllin'), Owen Gruffydd, Mr Jones ('Ficar Llan bryn Mair'), Arthur Jones, Gryffyd[d] Edward ('o Lanfyllin') and Robin Ragad, and anonymous poems. There are numerous critical and textual observations by the scribe. Pp. 15-89 were transcribed from Cwrtmawr MS 231.

A collection in several hands of 'cerddi', 'penillion', 'dyrïau' and 'englynion' by Moris Roberts (Morris A Pro[bert]), Hugh Morris, Lewis o Rydonen ('y Mhlwy Llantysilio'), [William Roberts] 'Clochydd Llannor' (1747) and John Edwards (1747), and anonymous poems. A part of the volume may be in the hand of John Jones, 1747. Bound into the volume is a notice, 20 June 1828, from the church-wardens and overseers of the poor of the parish of Llanfihangel, Montgomeryshire to the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the parish of Llangyniew of a proposed appeal against a removal order by the Court of Quarter Sessions. Mounted on the blank dorse of one leaf is a printed prospectus of Y Gwyliedydd [1822].

A mutilated volume written in various late seventeenth and early eighteenth century hands containing 'carolau', a 'cywydd' and 'englynion' by Cadwalader Roberts (1685), Hugh Lewis, Hugh Moris, Rowland Vaughan, Moris Richard, Thomas Lloyd ('Ieanga'), Edward Rowland, Richard Abr[a]ham and Edward Moris, and anonymous poems, together with a copy of an acknowledgment, 1677, of a debt of £3 from Thomas Roberts of Penant [Melangell], Montgomeryshire, gent., to John Hughes of Peniarth, gent. On the fly-leaves at the beginning is an index of first lines of the 'carolau' and 'cywydd' compiled and written by J. H. Davies, and at the end a transcript by J. H. Davies of 'Englynion o fawl i Thomas Jones' by Cadwalad[r] Roberts. The volume is lettered 'Llyfr Cadwaladr Roberts 1676'.

A composite volume of the second quarter of the eighteenth century containing English poetry (eclogues, epigrams and epitaphs); Latin poetry (extracts from Cato, Virgil and Ovid, epitaphs and epigrams); and Welsh poetry largely in free metres. The Welsh poems are generally anonymous but some of them, as well as one of the English epitaphs, are assigned to John Morys (Maurice) (1736-47), and there are single compositions by Humph[rey] Owen, B[ardd] C[wsg] (1732), J[ohn] R[hydderch], E[van] W[illiam] and Owen Griff[ydd] (1733). An addition to the volume contains a poem in Welsh by 'Gilielmus Didymus' (1755). . Inscribed in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen on the inside upper cover: 'Pwy a ddwyn hwn Bydd ei ran gyda Lladron yn Dragwyddol'.

The collection was begun probably in 1788.

A collection of 'cerddi', 'carolau', 'penillion', etc. in free metres by Hugh Moris and Rogiar Jones and numerous anonymous poems and scraps of verse. Also included are a rental of chief rents of Cynlleth yr Iarll and a rental of the tithe of Llangadwalader, Denbighshire, both undated, and a medical recipe. A note by Dafydd Marpole in Cwrtmawr MS 225, p. 86 attributes the present manuscript to the last quarter of the seventeenth century. Among later additions to the volume are holograph 'englynion' by Joseph Marpole ('yn llegys'), 1779. The spine is lettered 'Gwaith H. Morys a Roger Jones'.

A collection of poetry, etc. largely in the hand of David Jones. Examples of the scribe's signatures in the manuscript are dated 1704 and 1708 and the volume may therefore be attributed approximately to this period. It comprises 'carolau', 'cerddi', 'Ymddiddanion' and a 'cywydd' by T. Ed[wards], Hugh Morris, Cad[wala]dr Roberts and Thomas Maurice, together with anonymous poems; a few medical recipes; a table, undated, of the phases of the moon; an account, undated, of monies received [in the Llansilin area]; and a presentment of Edward Jones and Roger Lewis, churchwardens of the parish of Llanarmon mynydd mawr, 1705.

A manuscript consisting largely of transcripts and memoranda by Mary Richards and Thomas Richards of Darowen. The volume appears originally to have been used as an account book of receipts and disbursements in respect of the farms of Llwyn, Cafnmaelen and Byrthlwydd [parish of Dolgellau, Merioneth], 1799-1802, and also to record biographies of [James Crichton, 'The Admirable'], Sir Francis Walsingham, Sir Francis Drake and William Cecil, Lord Burghley. A volume originally used largely by the Reverend Thomas Richards, Darowen as an account book, 1821-6, of the Darowen Auxiliary of the Society for Promoting Christianity among the Jews ('Cymdeithas Gynnorthwyol ir Iuddewon' or 'Cyfaill Israel'). The Auxiliary Society was established on 12 January 1821 and the account book contains rules, lists of officers, particulars of individual subscriptions (and of collections previously made during the period 1816-20), and copies of letters of acknowledgment of annual contributions to the parent Society. The remainder, and by far the greater part, of the volume was subsequently used largely by Mary Richards to record transcripts of 'carolau', 'englynion', 'cywyddau', hymns, etc. by Hugh Jones (Maesglase), W.
