The Committee was appointed by the University Court at its meeting held on 22 July 1958 to undertake preliminary investigations into the question of the recognition of Wales as a separate unit for the purpose of television broadcasting following representations to the Court by the Joint Television Committee for Wales and Undeb Cenedlaethol Athrawon Cymru.
