History

The provenance of these deeds is uncertain. In the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries the lordship of Wrockwardine was held by the Lestrange family, but the Charleton family, lords of Powys, also had links with that area. It is possible that the deeds are connected with the early history of Overley Hall, Wrockwardine, which formed part of the Glascoed or Llanforda estates, acquired respectively through marriage and purchase by Sir William Williams in the second half of the seventeenth century.
