Records relating to the Anglo-Welsh Review, mainly typescripts of material published in the magazine, 1957-1988, including editor's correspondence files, printer's copies and galley proofs, 1957-1988; and subscription lists, 1957-1975. The archive also includes correspondence and papers relating to the publication's demise and closure, 1981-2000 (November 2021 deposit).

A collection of notebooks and collectanea of David Harris Williams (d. 1927).

Papers of, belonging to, or relating to George Gilbert Treherne Treherne, [1885x1924], containing for the most part material of antiquarian and historical interest. They include: notes, extracts and transcripts relating to Wales (particularly Carmarthenshire) and elsewhere, including etymological notes on place-names; extracts from Carmarthenshire tithe records of the 1840s; extracts from and notes on pedigrees relating in part to Carmarthenshire; correspondence, 1890-1924, mainly on antiquarian topics; press cuttings, 1911-1923, including an article on Treherne; draft and preparatory notes towards a work on Laugharne and the surrounding areas; an interleaved and annotated copy of Treherne's Notes on the Dedication of the Church in Honour of Saint Margaret Marlos (London, 1904); an annotated copy of Treherne's Eglwys Cymmin Book of Epitaphs (Carmarthen, 1919); and a typescript copy of G. G. T. Treherne's autobiography.

The Celynog Manuscripts are a collection of miscellaneous 17th to 19th century correspondence and papers, consisting of examples of Welsh literature, Welsh poetry, musical compositions, works on Welsh grammar, medical recipes, extracts from various newspapers and periodicals, tithe accounts, and genealogical, geographical, historical and political manuscripts. -- The collection also contains manuscripts relating to religion in Wales, with examples of Welsh religious literature, Welsh sermons and hymns, and manuscripts relating to the Welsh Congregational churches, and translations of charters granted to the abbey of Strata Florida.

Deeds relating to north Wales, mostly the Abergele area, Denbighshire, 1574-1848, and plans and particulars of sales of premises in Flintshire and Denbighshire, 1900-1917.

Records of the Picton family of Poyston, Pembrokeshire, and Iscoed, Carmarthenshire, including deeds, 1691-1909; rentals and accounts of the Poyston and Llandow estates, 1806-1842; papers and accounts relating to various members of the Picton family, 1786-1883, and papers of the Brogden family of Porthcawl, Glamorgan, 1884-1925.

The fonds comprises the research papers of Michael Holroyd mainly relating to his biography of Augustus John originally published in 1974-1975, other editions and the revised edition published in 1996. These include letters from the John family, researchers, British and foreign repositories, photocopies of letters from Augustus John to his family, letters to fellow artists, his writer friends and members of the Gypsy Lore Society; reminiscences of friends and family; press cuttings relating to his works; papers relating to Augustus John's autobiography Chiaroscuro published in 1952, including publishing contracts; photocopies of writings by Augustus John; publishing agreements and book reviews of the biography. Also included are exhibition addresses on the artist by Michael Holroyd; scripts written about him and Gwen John by others, papers relating to the book co-written by Michael Holroyd and Malcolm Easton, The art of Augustus John (London, 1974), together with some research papers relating to Gwen John and to other projects.

This collection is divided into two sections: that of the Thomas Edwards ('Pencerdd Caer') collection (NLW MSS 8924-9014) and that of the John Owen ('Owain Alaw') and Hugh Jones ('Erfyl') collections (NLW MSS 9015-9037). Thomas Edwards' collection is largely in his own hand and is mainly comprised of material relating to Flintshire, Denbighshire and Chester, including essays and articles, pedigrees, transcripts of records, and abstracts of deeds and documents; also included are letters, a collection of postcards, music by Thomas Edwards, Edwards family records, accounts, and miscellanea. The John Owen ('Owain Alaw') collection comprises correspondence, music by 'Owain Alaw', poetry, an essay and biographical notes on 'Owain Alaw', papers of William John Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd'), and a copy of The Poetical Works of Richard Llwyd, The Bard of Snowdon ... (London, [1837]) and letters to Richard Llwyd. The Hugh Jones ('Erfyl') collection comprises correspondence, diaries, an incomplete autobiography, poetry by 'Erfyl', an essay, an elegy to 'Erfyl', and accounts and miscellanea.

The collection comprises: correspondence and papers on specific subjects (files 1-83); and correspondence received from constituents (files 84-271).

A letter, 1980, writen by Keith Best to the Secretary of State for Wales, Nicholas Edwards, was donated by Rhys Evans, Cardiff, in 2002.

Papers of Ffransis G. Payne, 1920-1990, including letters to (and copy letters from), 1924-1981, relating mainly to his study of Welsh folk history and in particular his research into the history of agriculture in Wales; letters to Ffransis Payne, 1938-1978, relating to his research into the history of the plough and agricultural implements; general correspondence, 1932-1989; and letters from Iorwerth Cyfeiliog Peate, 1927-1971. Also research notes and other miscellaneous material including articles, letters, photographs, illustrations, transcripts of poems, and printed items relating to the donor's study of early agriculture in Wales, Welsh folk culture, Radnorshire poets and their patrons, Welsh poetry, and pedigrees. There are also some papers of Mrs Helly Payne.
