The series comprises research notes, pedigrees, press cuttings, manuscript and printed sources, copies and extracts from literature, private letters, printed leaflets and circulars, on the subjects of canine bibliographies, 1958, 1972, literature, [post-1786], 1896, [1925], 1944-1945, history, c. 1800, 1862-1875, 1908-1951, British and foreign dog breeds, classification of types, breed conformation standards, 1883-1995, physiology and health, 1924-1970, care, breeding and training, [post-1924]-1971, hunting, 1888-1954, dogs in art, war, work and leisure, 1937-1951, and the pug, 1950-1966; and an album of show certificates, [1889]-1895. The series comprises whole issues, individual pages, scrap books and loose cuttings of newspapers and magazines, 1816-1993, covering the biology of breeding, breed types, care, welfare, training, dog-loving celebrities, showing, clubs, animal photography, dogs and the law, working dogs, terriers, spaniels, anecdotes and a few, non-canine topics.
