History

As part of his concern for the preservation of the countryside and the marriage of architecture and the landscape, Sir Clough Williams-Ellis served on several committees concerned with conservation. He was a member of the Council for the Protection of Rural England, the Council for the Protection of Rural Wales, of which he was made Vice President, and the Advisory Committee for the Landscape Treatment of Trunk Roads. He was especially concerned about the various developments in Snowdonia and in buildings of beauty or historical and architectural interest.
