Sefydlwyd Eglwys Bethel, Borth-y-gest, Porthmadog, sir Gaernarfon, yn 1867 a pharhaodd ar waith tan y 1960au. Dros y rhan fwyaf o'r cyfnod hwn (1887-1935), y gweinidog oedd y Parch. W. Ross Hughes, a gasglodd nodiadau ar hanes yr eglwys, ac ychwanegwyd atynt gan ei ferch, Mrs E. P. McLean.
