History

David Jones (d. 1771) was a member of the Jones family of Glanyrafon-ddu, in the parish of Talley, Carmarthenshire. He sailed on the East India tea merchant ship the Talbot, and the merchant ship the Royal Charlotte. His brother and heir was the Rev. Henry Jones of Chatham, Kent, whose son, Henry Jones (d. 1799), became a clerk in Rochester, Kent. In the 19th century, the Glanyrafon-ddu estate passed to the Rev. Henry Thomas Jones (d. 1836) and Lt-Col William Jones (d. 1845). Douglas J. (John) Elliot is a historian, researching mainly Shropshire; he collected a group of deeds relating to the Glanyrafon-ddu estate.
