A commonplace book of miscellaneous entries arranged in alphabetical order of subject. There is included an epitaph on Rice Powell, vicar of Boughroyd (d. 1687), 'a prophecy found in a gentleman's library in Glamorganshire ... 1653', and a Welsh stanza by Vicar Price of Cayo.

A notebook of Edward Lhuyd, written 1698 (see pp. 10, 52), containing details of monumental inscriptions in Llanboidy (p. 6), Defynnog (p. 7), Llanfihangel (Mongomeryshire) (p. 17), Trawsfynydd (p. 31), Llangadog (p. 53), Herefordshire (pp. 58, 72), Llanllywenfel (p. 75), Llanafan Fawr (p. 77) and Llandanwg (p. 89); sketches of stone crosses (pp. 59-61, 73), stone circles (pp. 27, 44, 94, 99, 100) and further stones (pp. 2, 9, 42-3, 56), lime pit fossils (pp. 14, 44, 54, 62, 84-5, 145), a window (p. 3), Llangorse lake (p. 36), and the shore by Barry Island (pp. 37-8); and details of tombstones and their epitaphs (pp. 4, 11, 13, 39, 47, 63, 69, 81). The volume also includes notes relating to manuscripts and their owners (pp. 65-74), etc. An autograph note on p. 120 states: 'Mr. Edward Lhwyd was born at Lappiton parish, his nurse is now [?1698] living at Krew green (where he was nurs'd) 9 yre of her at Mrs. Judith Cowfield at Lappiton / his nurse says he is 41 years old 3 days before Michaelmas last according to Catherine Bowen his nurse to ye best of her memory'.

A composite volume of the second quarter of the eighteenth century containing English poetry (eclogues, epigrams and epitaphs); Latin poetry (extracts from Cato, Virgil and Ovid, epitaphs and epigrams); and Welsh poetry largely in free metres. The Welsh poems are generally anonymous but some of them, as well as one of the English epitaphs, are assigned to John Morys (Maurice) (1736-47), and there are single compositions by Humph[rey] Owen, B[ardd] C[wsg] (1732), J[ohn] R[hydderch], E[van] W[illiam] and Owen Griff[ydd] (1733). An addition to the volume contains a poem in Welsh by 'Gilielmus Didymus' (1755). . Inscribed in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen on the inside upper cover: 'Pwy a ddwyn hwn Bydd ei ran gyda Lladron yn Dragwyddol'.

A manuscript containing an alphabetical list of poets and authors (most with abbreviations for the names and floruits appended) and literary and historical works (e.g. Brut y Tywysogion, Buchedd St Margaret); a list of Welsh proverbs, all starting with 'ni' or 'nid'; poetry, nearly all in the form of 'englynion', mainly by Owen Gruffydd 'o blwy Llanystynd[wy]' and Absalom Roberts of Llanrwst, with a few 'englynion' by John Prichard Prys, Edward Morus, Ellis Rolant, Sion Dafydd and anonymous; on the last page (24) there are epitaphs in verse to Anne and Cathrin Roberts of Goppa, who died in 1780.
