The various premises in Caerhun were acquired through inheritance or purchase by Robert Hughes of Gwydir and his wife, Elizabeth (née Williams), and were referred to in their wills. Upon Robert's death, he left his estate to his brother, John Hughes, whose daughter, Jane, married John Griffith (3) of Garn in 1762.
