Trust deeds,

Two Trust Deeds to administer funds allocated by the Ministry of Fuel and Power to meet the extra cost of compensation owing to silicosis and pneumoconiosis in anthracite collieries and in steam and bituminous and Swansea industrial collieries.

Denial of employment,

William O'Brien v. George Burton. Minutes of Evidence given in the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division. The plaintiff, William O'Brien, was a member of the Craftsmen's Association; the defendant, George Burton, was check weighman and treasurer of the Llwynpia House Coal Lodge of the Miners' Federation.

Workmen's compensation,

Report of the Departmental Committee appointed to inquire into the law relating to compensation for injuries to workmen, 1904; First and Second Reports of the Departmental Committee on Compensation for Industrial Diseases, 1907-1908; Minutes of Evidence, with index, of the Departmental Committee appointed to inquire into the system of payment of compensation to workmen who have sustained injuries while in the course of employment, 1919-1920.

Miners' safety lamps,

Report of the Departmental Committee on the testing of miners’ safety lamps, 1912; Memoranda and Final Report of the Committee appointed to inquire and report on possible improvements relating to safety and illumination, and the method of testing and approving lamps, 1920-1924; Minutes of Evidence, with index, of the Committee appointed to enquire into safety and illumination improvements, and the general use and maintenance of various types of lamps, 1922. The latter includes an Appendix on the laws of foreign countries in regard to safety lamps and their upkeep.

Manuscript and printed material produced by the Monmouthshire and South Wales Coal Owners Association (MSWCOA) Secretaries and other officers, and some related Industry and Government publications. The group also contains MSWCOA circulars, scrapbooks, newscuttings, official press reports released by the Association, and reports and papers relating to research carried out in the South Wales coalfield and other aspects of coal mining and production.
