Oswestry and Llanforda estate administration papers,

Papers deriving from administration of the Oswestry and Llanforda estates in the county of Salop, successively in the hands of Sir William Williams and the Williams Wynn family. They comprise expired tenancy agreements and associated papers, 1855-1911; papers relating to property purchases, 1677-1678, 1899-1905; and miscellaneous estate administration papers, 1722-1884.

Wales and England, misc. title deeds,

Title deeds deriving from various estates in Wales and England, which were not part of the main Wynnstay estates. The seven series contain deeds from Wales, 1598-1886; Shrewsbury, 1564-1792; miscellaneous Shropshire parishes, [pre-1290], 1418, 1588-1809; Lincolnshire, 1635-1653, 1814; Gray’s Inn chambers, London, 1623-1694; London and Middlesex, 1634-1785; and miscellaneous English counties, 1348, 1592-1807. The Lincolnshire and London deeds derive from the professional and private interests of Sir Richard Wynn of Gwydir and Sir William Williams of Glascoed. A few of the other deeds concern Sir Richard Wynn and Sir Watkin Williams Wynn but the provenance of the majority has not been discovered.

Legal papers, Vaughan family of LLwydiarth,

Legal papers from disputes of the Vaughan family of Llwydiarth with various adversaries, 1600-1716. The series comprise: miscellaneous cases of the Vaughan family, 1600-1664; disputes of Vaughan family and the Price family over the title to properties in Eglwysegl, Dinbren and Trefor Isaf, 1604-1664; disputes about the Llwydiarth estates, involving Sir Robert Vaughan and Edward Vaughan, 1616-1669; disputes about the Llwydiarth estates, involving Charles Salesbury and other trustees of Edward Vaughan, 1650-1669; disputes about the Llwydiarth estates, involving William and Gabriel Salesbury and other trustees of Edward Vaughan, 1666-1675; and disputes over Llwydiarth and other estates involving Edward Vaughan, 1666-1716. Several of the more substantial cases are interrelated, continuing from one generation of estate owners and trustees to the next, e.g. the claims by Magdalen and Katherine Salesbury, and Sir Charles Lloyd and his sons (alias Vaughan).

Much Wenlock manorial records,

Records of the manorial court of Much Wenlock, comprising a near-complete series of court leet presentments, 1786-1857; a small number of suit rolls, 1770-1787, 1823-1857 (with gaps); and miscellaneous manorial records, 1614, 1669-1677, 1821.

Family Settlements,

Original, draft and copy marriage settlements, and other family settlements of the Wynn family of Gwydir, 1578-1681, of the Williams family of Chwaen Isaf and Llanforda, and their descendants the Williams Wynn family of Wynnstay, 1664-1859, together with the families who were related to them by marriage, namely Eyton of Watstay, 1499-1687, Thelwall of Plas y Ward, 1515-1708, Kyffin of Glascoed, 1546-1675, and Vaughan of Llwydiarth, 1569-1719, with related deeds and documents associated with disentailment and resettlement. Endorsements: Most of the documents are endorsed with notes of contents and several have original reference numbers allocated by the estate.

Papers relating to several family and non-family trusts administered by and for Richard Gwynne, Sir John Wynn, Owen Vaughan and others, 1596, 1606, 1675, Sir Richard Wynn, 1630-1658, Sir John Wynn (2), 1665-1698, and Sir William Williams and Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, 1670-1786 . The family trusts here are specific and separate from those incorporated into the family settlements and wills (sections YA and YB). The types of documents involved in the trusts include deeds, wills, settlements, agreements and wardship papers.
