The contents of this folder is mainly concerned with rearrangement of the company's capital (E52/1-44). There was some opposition to this rearrangement (E52/61), particularly from a Mr William Campbell (E52/63), and a Mr Merry (F52/75, 84, 85) whose case was argued by his daughter. Agreement is eventually reached, and family shares are cancelled (E52/95-106) and new share certificates issued (E52/116-119, 131-168). The letters were written by the following people:. Folios. The letters and papers in this folder refer to the progress and problems of the company, leading up to a crisis in 1934. The company balance sheet and its general financial position in 1930 and 1931 are outlined (E55/2,6,8,16-24, 47-48). The company resigned from the Cold Rolled Brass and Copper Association at this time (E55/37,38, 39,41,43,55) and joined the High Conductivity Copper Association (E55/25-30). The company also negotiated for a bank loan (E55/42, 56-59, 65-71, 75) and asked Professor Taverner of Swansea to give a preliminary report on the company's position (E55/60-64). By 1933, the possibility of appointing a receiver for the company, due to financial problems, was being discussed (E55/92-9). These problems increased after the appointment of J. F. Parker as company secretary (E55/117-8, 121-130,134-6). Parker attempted to buy the Pitney Rolling Mills Ltd for Vivian and Son (E55/137-140). This disgusted Jack H. M. Greenly, who resigned from the board of directors (E55/141-144, 151-156). Others, like H. M. Moor, complained about Parker's treatment of them and the company (E55/147-150). The folder also contains two reports of average weekly deliveries at the Icknield Port Works and two copies of a Parliamentary Debate Reports for Friday Nov. 13, 1931, noting remarks by Stanley Baldwin on a part of the King's Speech. These contain two letters (E55/72a and 74). The letters were written by the following people:. Folios. P. M. Child 157. C. Bruce Gardener 74. Gibson and Ashford 1, 31. J. H. M. Greenly 51, 92, 100, 112, 117, 121, 134, 140, 142, 151, 152, 154, 156. A. A. Miller 42, 56. Fred W. Mitchell 6,24,50. H. M. Moor 147. J. F. Parker 131, 144. G. A. C. Pettitt 29. J. E.
