[Southern Lapwing & car]

A Southern Lapwing (Vanellus chilensis) flying away from the camera and framed a against a bright blue sky. A small white car is visible in the bottom right of the photo. The car may well be the 'small white car' belonging to Glyn Ceiriog Hughes who acted as guide to KW for much of his stay in Dyffryn Camwy.

[Essado]

The carcasses of two lambs being barbecued. This would appear to be the barbecue (or essado) mentioned by KW on p 182 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991). This took place at the residence of Don Diego Neill, Intendente of Los Alerces National Park on Christmas Day 1968.

[Mountain sunset V]

A line of hills silhouetted against a dramatic evening sky. See also 4690/67-70 for other slides taken at the same time.

[Malva]

Leaves and flowers of a member of the mallow family. On p 176 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991) KW talks of "... malva, a sort of mallow that invaded the gardens of Trevelin."

[Farmer on horseback]

A middle aged farmer astride a dark bay horse. On the ground next to him is a sheepdog. Snow capped peaks can be seen in the distance. Slide 4690/84 is another slide of the same farmer.
