Thanks for Fisher's book. Discussed John Herbert Lewis with Bigge recently. Plans to move the school are very time-consuming, but should be worthwhile eventually. Agrees with the raising of the school-leaving age to fifteen, but it has occurred 'rather sooner than anyone expected'.

Thanks for message. Now often thinks of John Herbert Lewis as he occupies the same room as when he was Private Secretary to John Herbert Lewis. Recalls John Herbert Lewis piloting through Parliament the first Town Planning Bill in 1909. His period at the Local Government Board was 'easily the happiest time for me in the Service'. Recently met a clergyman from John Herbert Lewis's neighbourhood.

Attended the meeting of the College Council yesterday where it was announced that the newly created Chair of Welsh History had been offered to Professor E. A. Lewis, '...the only man who could lay the right foundations for this new & important Chair'. Incomplete.

Thanks for the letter about his book. Recalls their days in the House of Commons from 1895 to 1898. Saw much of Maclaren at Manchester; he helped to establish a free Theological Faculty in the University. Would like to be able to see John Herbert Lewis.
Personal news. Has been attending the sittings of the House of Lords which have been rather dull. The times are 'undoubtedly critical'. Believes more attention should be paid to 'the psychology of nations'. Is perplexed by domestic politics. Has attended a meeting of the Governors of the Church at Aberystwyth. Feels religious life has been overcome by lethargy, but 'fuller light' will come again.
