Is very sorry to learn of John Herbert Lewis's plight. Has missed out on the major honours of political life, but does not regret his career as a politician. Was defeated in 1922 and 1923, and re-elected in 1925. Now feels rather solitary.
Thanks for letter and good wishes. Achieving the Chair of the South Wales Association is a great honour - 'We are a turbulent lot, much more volatile than our cooler Northern brethren'. There are serious issues which need to be tackled. Hopes John Herbert Lewis may be able to give a lead.
Christmas greetings. The annual cyfarfod pregethu at Betws-y-Coed. Local events - 'The atmosphere seems at least to be getting more brutal and beastly in many ways. Or is it that I am getting old?'.
Was much impressed by John Herbert Lewis's letters to Whitley. A deputation of the Welsh MPs and the University has seen Kingsley Wood, the Postmaster General to press for the appointment of a Welsh person to the Governing Body of the BBC. May be able to discuss the matter with Sir John Reith.

Thanks for the letter about the appointments at the Board of Education. John Herbert Lewis's letter confirms his own impressions of their colleagues at the Board. 'It is a tremendous responsibility to try to live up to the standards which you set, and of which so many lasting signs still remain'.
