Much appreciates John Herbert Lewis's interest in the new chapel; the opening was a great success and more than £1,000 was 'cleared'. Would like John Herbert Lewis to see the chapel. Is sorry to learn of John Herbert Lewis's disability. Welsh.
Letter from Herbert Fisher, Oxford,
Wonders at the amount John Herbert Lewis is able to read. Is grateful for John Herbert Lewis's comments about his book on Christian science, which he was induced to write by the 'conversion' of a niece to Christian science. He is now 'very much behind the times in theological reading'. Has not yet seen Bigge's Indian Report. The continuation schools will become a necessity. Hears that Lloyd George has received a 'charming little note' from Ramsay MacDonald congratulating him on becoming the father of the House of Commons: 'LG's relations to MacDonald are certainly in need of improvement'. Has enjoyed Grant's [?] presence this term, 'amazingly vigorous and full of ideas'. He has enabled 'a concerted attack upon the scientific problems relating to African government' to be made. Clwyd remains 'young looking'.
Letter from Thomas Richards, Cardiff,

Thanks for the gift of Fisher's book. Believes society may be 'on the verge of some new & deep religious movement'. Reflects on the reasons for 'humanity's constant & consistent turning to religion throughout the ages'. Has heard from Vincent Evans. Reflections on political life - 'I often wonder what would happen if a great man, with deep convictions, & wide knowledge & finance appeared. All the poverty & suffering in the midst of incalculable wealth seems strangely out of place'. Christmas and New Year greetings.

Happy New Year! Knows John Herbert Lewis remains much interested in 'the dear old Corff'. The north is very proud of Coleg Clwyd which will provide an adequate training for ministerial candidates. Discusses 'the movement to recover our Spiritual Autonomy in Christ'. Encloses a copy of the Articles as amended by the Joint Committee. Hopes that the Associations 'will appoint a Special Committee to confer with Parliamentary Agents as to drafting a bill, &c., &c'. There is an urgent need for 'a spiritual awakening'.
