He refers to his becoming a naturalized citizen of the USA and to insults to the recipient from the Ryding family, and encloses a long account of a train journey across the United States. (For fuller details of this letter, see: Trans. Rads Soc., vol. 73 (2003), pp. 181-182).

Letters from Walter (Castle House, Trecastle, Brecs.) to his brother Horatio regarding family affairs, but also mentioning the newly-disestablished Church in Wales. Says that in Llywel 'I have had to do all the work of calling the meetings, compiling the Electoral Roll of the Parish, etc., and generally making all the arrangements to "carry on" under the new Constitution'. Mentions that collections in Llywel Church had raised roughly £100 for the Welsh Church Fund, whilst he, David, Brychan and Florrie (his Jeffreys cousins), had each given £100.
