Ann Thomas, James's Place,

Had traced Mrs Williams to 2 Doury Square, where she was in attendance on a lady. She had declined to come to see addressee and said she was engaged for two months.

Sarah Thomas, Pentyrch,

Seeks help for her son's schooling. He was a grandson of the late Rev. Thomas Thomas, vicar of Pentyrch, and was being educated for the church.

W. Williams, [Aberpergwm],

Glad to hear they were moving. It would be a pity not to see Lord Westminster's place near Chester. Companies trying to make iron with stone coal without bituminous were meeting difficulties. The three companies would lay out £100,000 between them. Requests addressee to make enquiries regarding prices of leather trousers and larches. He wanted to buy 300,000 larches and would require the same quantity next year.

William Herbert, Clytha,

Rumours concerning the Tredegars spread by Lord Llanover. Hopes he will leave Reggy alone. Asks addressee to advise Reggy to be prudent for he was a marked man and still on bail in Middlesex.

Mary L. Cole, Lanelay (?),

Requests addressee to send five copies of her music when she was distributing it. Glad to hear the Llandrindod waters had done her good. Her enjoyment of the country.

T. Crofton Croker, Admiralty,

Welsh and Irish legends and airs. His publications. Mr Keightley's conduct in publishing a book on fairy mythology from his materials. Wished he had more time to learn Welsh. Dr Owen Pugh had shown him a translation of the Mabinogion. Believes the tales published in the Myvyrian Archaiology would translate very well amplified in verse. Letter from Sir Walter Scott concerning Scottish fairy tales and inviting writer to Abbotsford. Sending a Welsh novel which he did not have time to read.

Joseph Jones, Brecon,

Enquires whether addressee intends to publish a second collection of airs as stated in The Hereford Times. If she did publish another collection he would like to subscribe for one copy. He had bought the copy of The Ancient Airs of Gwent and Morganwg which addressee had presented to Mr Grafton Croker.
