Bombay, The Esplanade Hotel,

Reached Bombay harbour at 7.00 last evening. Was ill after leaving Aden due to a swell which was the tail end of a severe monsoon. One P&o vessel went down and another nearly lost. Passed a whale and flying fish. Saw yellow snakes about two feet long. Ostrich feathers at Aden nearly the same price as London. Theatricals on the Delhi went well. Drew the programme five feet long, illuminated with pictures of natives and characters. Start for Calicut on Tuesday by steamer.
