The file comprises manuscript notes by Eric Gill entitled 'David Jones' and dated 7 Sept. 1928. These notes form an introduction to his work as an artist and this item is described in a note by Harman Grisewood as being 'an important appreciation for those interested in the Gill/Jones association.'

Amongst these drafts is one of part of a letter, probably to The Times, concerning a scheme to establish a military training area somewhere in Wales (1947) and another of part of a letter concerning The Great North Road (1961, see CF2/25). Amongst the subjects discussed or referred to by David Jones in other drafts are 'demythologists' in theology and other fields of study, St Paul, Celtic and Anglo-Saxon art, his mother's drawings, Welsh history and 'The Narrows' (1973).
