Funeral, probate and inheritance accounts

The file comprises funeral, probate and inheritance accounts, 1727-1863, including accounts of the estate of George Coytmore and Bridgett Coytmore, 1727-[c. 1738], the goods of Lewis Atkinson, the Cwyber mortgage assignee, 1739, personal estate of John Griffith (3), solicitor's bill for proving his will and related expenses, 1791, estate of Thomas Griffith in India and East Indies, 1805, 1813-1825, and funeral expenses of Robert Griffith, 1818.

Ffrith Eithin/Rhes y Cae, Henllan

The file comprises deeds, 1766-1856, for Ffrith Eithin, alias Rhes y Cae, which had been mortgaged to Mary Wynne by Thomas Evans of Denbigh in 1803. As executor of her will, her son-in-law, John Wynne Griffith, was entitled to claim repayment of the mortgage money. The presence of a draft deed of sale would suggest that the property had become forfeit to the Griffith family, intended to be sold by George Griffith in 1856.

Ffrith Bodvell, Caerhun, Cae Fadock, Gyffin

The file comprises a deed of sale by Sir George Markham, Bart. to Robert Hughes of Gwydir, of Ffrith Bodvell, in the parish of Caerhun and Cae Fadock in Gyffin. [Like the other lands in Caerhun, the two properties ultimately descended to Robert Hughes', niece, Jane Griffith, mother of John Wynne Griffith of Garn, who conveyed them to his son, Robert Griffith, in a family settlement of 1814].

Family trust papers

The series comprises papers deriving from John Griffith's trusteeship of Cadwallader Wynne's Voelas estate, 1712-1763, and John Wynne Griffith's trusteeship of Robert Watkin Wynne's Plasnewydd and Garthmeilio estates, 1783-1843.
