Aberystwyth Dispensary and Infirmary,

A group of letters relating to the Aberystwyth Dispensary, later known as the Aberystwyth Infirmary. The letters, mainly addressed to Dr. Richard Williams, include correspondence concerning subscriptions to the hospital scheme, as well as items relating to the administration of the establishment. On the background to the establishment of both institutions see D. I. Evans, 'Hospital Services in Aberystwyth before 1948', Ceredigion, vol. 5 (1965), pp. 168-208. English. George's Meeting, Colyton,

A volume of miscellaneous papers, 1669-1939, entitled 'Colyton Trust', relating to the Unitarian Meeting-house known as George's Meeting at Colyton in Devon. The items include transcripts of accounts and letters relating to financial matters, 1725-1868; the probate of the will, 16 March 1669/70, of Ralph Seaward of Colyton, carpenter; a licence, 1723, permitting a dissenters' gathering at the residence of John Bussle, cordwainer, in Colyton; photographs of the Great House, Colyton, used as a meeting-house, c.1746; accounts of the trustees of George's Meeting, 1864-1868; an Order in Council, 1882, relating to Colyton churchyard (printed); a schedule of deeds re. George's Meeting register,

A transcript, 1904, in the hand of George Eyre Evans, of the register of George's Meeting, Colyton, for the years 1823-1862, recording births, baptisms and burials. The volume also includes three letters, 1907-1910, from A. J. P. Skinner of Colyton to George Eyre Evans, relating to the present transcript. About three hundred and fifty autograph letters and pictorial postcards, 1907-1913, written principally to George Eyre Evans by David Ivon Jones, a native of Aberystwyth and grandson of John Jones ('Ivon'), from New Zealand and South Africa, together with a few letters and picture postcards from W. M. Roberts, North East Valley, Dunedin to George Eyre Evans, and from W. Tudor Jones, Wellington to David Ivon Jones; and printed matter.

One hundred and fifty-nine autograph letters and postcards, and a few Christmas cards, 1904, addressed principally to George Eyre Evans and primarily of Unitarian and genealogical interest.
Among the correspondents are Frances Power Cobbe; Richard Ellis, Oxford; Walter Jenkin Evans; Henry Harold Hughes, Bangor; William James, Llandysul; Morgan Hugh Jones, Carmarthen; Rees Jenkin Jones, Aberdare; William Tudor Jones, Swansea; Lewes Thomas Loveden Pryse, Gogerddan; Edith Spurrell; Daniel Lleufer Thomas; and Herbert Millingchamp Vaughan. Also included are notes by Walter Jenkin Evans on Bridgend and Bettws Unitarian (previously Congregational) churches; a printed poem in English by Evan Ceredig Jones, 1904; and an index to the entire volume prepared by George Eyre Evans in January 1905.

Two bound volumes containing about four hundred and thirty autograph letters and postcards, 1903-1904, written to George Eyre Evans in connection with his appeal for subscribers to his Cardiganshire: A Personal Survey of Some of its Antiquities, Chapels, Churches, Fonts, Plate and Registers (Aberystwyth, 1903).
The names of almost all the writers appear in the published list of 'Subscribers'.

Aberystwyth miscellanea,

An album compiled by George Eyre Evans, containing a collection of one hundred and ninety-five autograph letters, manuscript poems and other documents, printed notices, broadsides, circulars, photographs, etc., of Aberystwyth interest. The majority relate to the Aberystwyth Dispensary, later known as the Aberystwyth Infirmary, and particularly to the payment of subscriptions, 1821-1844. Others relate to the erection and renovation of St Michael's Church, 1825-1846; the restoration of the parish church of Llanbadarn Fawr, 1867; the opening of the Public Library, 1906; and the Exhibition of the Centenary of the Introduction of Printing, 1909.
Included in the volume is a typescript schedule of the documents.

Diary and letters,

A typewritten copy made for George Eyre Evans of the diary of George Eyre Powell, 1810-1843 (NLW MS 13271A, above), together with typewritten copies of letters, dated between 1820 and 1841, from George Eyre Powell to his wife, Catherine, and to his daughter, Ophelia, and from Catherine Powell to her husband, and of testimonials to George Eyre Powell from Captain Edmund Palmer, Admiral Sir Charles Rowley, bart, Sir William Hoste, bart., Captain Herbert Brace Powell, Captain W. Sargent, and Captain F. E. Lock. The original letters and copies of the testimonials are to be found in NLW MS 13563E. Also included are three letters and a receipt, dated 1914, from the Association of Women Clerks and Secretaries to George Eyre Evans concerning the typing of the volume. English.
