Welsh Arts Council correspondence

The series comprises general correspondence between the Association and the Welsh Arts Council, 1974-1995. The topics include the formation of a society of artists and designers in Wales, studio space for artists, grant schemes available for artists, development planning, etc.

Unpublished work by members

The series consists of unpublished written work by members of the Association, comprising a novel by Jon Whitaker, entitled 'Monsalvat', 1991, and two articles, one by Jon Whitaker entitled 'Aesthetics and the Essence of Man', 1992, and an article entitled 'Land of the Green Ginger' by John Wigley, 1982.

Unionisation

The series consists of a small group of correspondence and papers, 1988, relating to the joining of trade unions, especially the BETA (Broadcasting and Entertainment Trades Alliance), with leaflets and brochures of BETA rules, and a poster. Also enclosed are notes towards a paper for the Wales TUC Arts Committee, 1979.

Reports and responses

The series consists of reports on the Association undertaken by the Welsh Arts Council, and the Association's responses to them, including Hazel Kirkham, 'Collected Thoughts and Reports', 1981; 'Priorities into Practice' and 'The Next Steps', 1984; Peter Jones, 'Cultural Policies', 1986; Peter Lord, 'Cultural Policies', 1986; and 'Shaping up for the 90's', 1992. The series also includes a report, 1979, by the officer's group of a Joint Working Party on the Arts.

Political parties and the arts

The series consists of papers relating to the political policies of the Association, and to the policies of political parties on the visual arts in Wales, 1982-1990, including correspondence between AADW and political parties, and papers relating to the Cardiff Local Election, 1987.
