[On the beach]

A number of people on a stony beach, including five figures playing in the surf. On their left is a concrete jetty whilst a short distance offshore is a rowing boat and swimmers.

A photograph of a painted cartouche showing an angel and a small view of the front of The Angel Posting House & Livery, Guildford. The top, bottom and sides have scrollwork designs, the background of the whole has been painted to give a fake wood effect.

[Merchant seamen]

Four seamen, one only partially visible, coiling a rope. Their headgear is suggestive of a tropical climate. Probably taken aboard the 'Eros' on which Joy Thomas sailed to Jamaica in 1937.

An elderly man wearing a fedora hat seated on the ground and smoking a pipe. There are numerous other people milling around and a car parked behind the man, suggesting an outdoor event of some kind.

A man resting on a pile of empty bottles. His right hand is shading his eyes from the sun, the left is holding a bottle of Red Stripe. Other bottles visible are for Soda Water, Kola, Safreys Pilsener Beer and another Pilsener beer
