Estimates, invoices, bills and receipts
The unit consists of papers relating to H. Clarence Whaite's profession as president of both the Royal Cambrian Academy 1881-1912, and the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, 1866-1912, together with papers, 1869-1912, relating to the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours, of which he was a prominent member, and papers relating to very many exhibitions in which he took part, 1863-1912.
The group comprises papers relating to the Royal Cambrian Academy (RCA) of which Whaite was president from its establishment in 1881 until his death in 1912, including minutes, letters, reports, notebooks, papers relating to exhibitions, membership lists, etc.

The series consists of letters to H. Clarence Whaite, 1883-1912, as president of the Royal Cambrian Academy (RCA), and reflect the day to day running of the academy, including letters relating to the organising of exhibitions, election of members, building matters, the formation of the Academy's Art Union lottery for pictures, etc.
The file includes a list, kept by the Curator of the Royal Cambrian Academy, of paintings sent to various art galleries, and returned to the Academy.
The series comprises membership lists of the Royal Cambrian Academy, from 1885 to 1912, together with a manuscript copy of the rules of procedure in council and committee meetings, and printed copies of the rules as altered, approved and adopted, 1887.
The series comprises papers relating to the Art Union, invitations to social events, papers relating to the origins of Plas Mawr, and papers relating to the Queen's jubilee.

The group comprises papers, 1866-1912, relating to the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA), established in 1859, of which Whaite was elected president in 1892. The papers include agendas for monthly and annual meetings, letters, accounts statements, press cuttings and miscellaneous papers, including rules and regulations of the Academy, and invitation cards to various exhibitions held by the Society.

The series consists of cards, 1892-1912, sent routinely to all members notifying them of the dates of various meetings of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, together with topics for discussion.
