Personal documents relating to John Rhŷs, 1857-1916, including his passport, 1870; a testimonial on his departure as Pupil Teacher at Penllwyn British School, 1859; an Inspector's report for Rhosybol British School, 1862; a small group of letters by John Rhŷs, 1863 and undated; a general report and summary, 1875, of schools inspected by John Rhŷs; papers relating to the honorary degree he received from the University of Edinburgh, 1893; letters of appointment and re-appointment to the Court of the University of Wales, 1894, 1899, 1909 and 1914, and the Court of Governors of the National Museum of Wales, 1907 and 1912; and the bookplate used for items donated to the University of Wales Abersytwyth, 1916.

Printed material, [1822]-1946, most of which appear to have been accumulated by John Rhŷs. Among the books, [1822]-1922, are Llawlyfr sainysgrif by T. Cadivor Wood, (Chester, [1863]), Saint David by M. L. Dawson (Carmarthen, 1910), and Manx publications, [1822]-[1836]; reprints, proofs and cuttings of published articles, addresses, letters etc. by various authors, 1863-1912; university manuals, 1869-1871; maps, 1880-1891, of Britain and Ireland, some of which contain manuscript notes; memorial cards of friends and family, 1872-1915; and press cuttings, 1867-1946.

Letters to Myvanwy Rhys

Letters, 1893-1945, addressed to Myvanwy Rhys from her sister, Olwen, 1911-1945 (mostly 1945), and various correspondents. Some letters are addressed to both sisters, and a few may have been sent solely to Olwen Rhys. Many relate to the proposed biography of John Rhŷs. Included are letters from A. E.
