Miscellanea relating mainly to Anglesey collected by Thomas Williams and John Williams and including a letter concerning composition money sent to Lewis Lloyd, 1650, by Thomas Mytton and others; a Beaumaris Quarterage Booke for the year beginning at Michas 1728; a land tax assessment, 1733, and poor relief assessments for the same borough, 1816 and 1823; Bangor and Beaumaris Poor Law Union lists of paupers, 1843; papers, 1789 and 1813, relating to John Jones, town clerk of Beaumaris, to the commission of the peace for Caernarvonshire, 1795-1809, and for Anglesey, 1816, and to the Beaumaris eisteddfod, 1832, including letters to Thomas Williams, Beaumaris from John Parry (Bardd Alaw), Peter Bayley Williams and William Williams (Caledfryn); etc.

Letters, &c.

A portfolio containing thirty-five holograph letters, deeds and documents, 1591-1767, collected by John Lloyd (1733-1793), Caerwys, father of Angharad Llwyd (1780-1866). Seven holograph letters, 1688-1705, were written to Robert Davies (Llannerch, Denbighshire) by his wife Letitia Davies, Sir Richard Wilbraham (Shorwick), Essex Mostyn (Gloddaeth) and others; the others include holograph letters, 1597-1706, from Richard Bulkeley (Beaumaris) to John Salusbury (Llewenni), John Wynne (Stapleton) to Lieut.-Col. [Thomas] Davies at Ashbridge, etc. The deeds and documents consist of bonds, recognisances and agreements, 1591-1695, a petition of the mayor and burgesses of Holt to the Quarter Sessions of Denbighshire for the repayment of a sum of £10 collected in Holt towards the erection of a new shire hall in Wrexham and a copy of the subsequent order authorising the money to be used for the repair of Holt bridge, 1661, and an agreement between John Davies, Llannerch, sheriff of Denbighshire, and other specified persons for the abolition of vails, 1767.

A manuscript containing transcripts by Angharad Llwyd (1780-1866) relating to land tenure in Cheshire, also transcripts by her from several parish registers, from memoranda in a Bible at Ruabon church, from a collection of arms of French families, from deeds at Hawarden, from Vaughan of Corsygedol monuments, and from various other sources. The manuscript also contains, amongst other items, genealogical notes relating to North Wales families and a letter, 1818, from Peter Roberts, Oswestry, to Angharad Llwyd.

Early British history

One of two manuscripts containing a genealogical history of the rulers and chieftains of Britain from Brutus to Vortigern, with coloured shields of arms. NLW MSS 1629F and 1630F (?and a third volume) may have been intended as an introduction to NLW MS 1631F.
