‘Cathie of the canoe club’,

Correspondence and a typescript copy of a children’s story submitted to ‘Bunty’ unsuccessfully. The original copy has handwritten draft of a play ‘Housewives strike at Little Ditchwater’ on the reverse.

‘Esmeralda the roundabout horse’,

Typescript copy of a children’s story written in 1949 and ‘Sunny Stories’ extract (1954) of ‘Esmeralda’ that was also included in ‘Read Aloud Tales’ (1956), which is a collection of stories originally appearing in Sunny Stories published by George Newnes Ltd. Also included is a typescript copy of the Esmeralda story ‘She shall have music’, and correspondence with publishers.

Flipper the seal stories,

Twelve Flipper the seal children’s stories typescript copies including an extract from ‘Sunny Stories’ magazine where published. All the extracts have ‘Flipper the seal’ as the title with the complete title written on the extract in pencil. ‘The hungry lighthouse keeper’ and ‘Flipper and the porpoise’ were also published in the ‘Fishguard County Echo’. ‘Goldie the cat’,

Typescript copy of a children’s story accepted and published in ‘Our Magazine - For boys and girls taught at home’, published by the West Riding of Yorkshire County Council, including a copy of the relevant issue (vol. Ten, Number 2, May 1962) and correspondence (1958, 1962). The story was not accepted by Sunny Stories as is stated in correspondence which is endorsed ‘Also Mag. For Handicapped Children – 1962’.

‘Jo-Jo the mouse’,

Typescript copy of a children’s novel, and correspondence in relation to its submission to publishers between Oct 1966 and Apr 1968.

‘Leave it to Timmie’,

Correspondence and a typescript copy of a one off story for children submitted to ‘Wife and Home’ and Thomas Long Publishers, but not accepted.

Mark & Mandy stories,

Typescript copies of eight Mark and Mandy children’s stories including some extracts from ‘Sunny Stories’ magazine as published. Some stories were also published in the ‘Fishguard County Echo’ and ‘The riding lesson’ is endorsed ‘Published Mag. For handicapped children - 1962’. ‘Mrs. Cluck’s brown eggs’ as published in ‘Sunny Stories’ has the title of ‘Mark and Mandy and Mrs Cluck’ on the typescript.
