Robert Wynne at Garthewin to Sir William Williams at Llanvorda,

The curacy of Llansantffraid Glyn Keiriog; the loss suffered by the tenant of Maesmawr and a dispute about a pew in Llansantffraid Glyn Keiriog. 'Recipient may depend that his tenant [who was involved in the pew dispute] shall have all the justice which writer can do to him (and in the want of every suit he himself directs sentence) [in the Consistory Court of St Asaph] and with all possible expedition. Endorsed: 'Dr Wynne's kind letter'.

P[eter] Roberts, Harrogate to [? Charles Williams Wynn III] Wynnstay,

Explains why he failed to come to Wynnstay to pay his respects. He has been desirous of doing something in vindication of the genuiness of 'our' Welsh poetry and history from the very illiberal and unjust attacks of the 'Critical Edinburgh Reviewers' who have endeavoured to stigmatise them as forgeries of the twelfth century. He has no doubts that Brut y Brenhinoedd was written by Gildas himself. Gives reasons why he believes the Brut was not written in the twelfth century. He is sorry that his situation prevents him from participating in the pleasure of arranging the Wynnstay MSS. [The writer later published The Cambrian popular antiquities; or, an account of some traditions, customs, and superstitions of Wales (London, 1815).].
