Canvassing instructions for election day

Organisation instructions for Labour Party volunteers in Aberystwyth on canvassing and contacting potential voters in support of Elystan Morgan, the Labour candidate. The instructions were issued and their implementation was overseen by Professor Richard Hinchliffe, a prominent local activist and branch office who introduced the "Reading system" to Cardiganshire. This was a system used in the Reading constituency during the tenure of Ian Mikardo MP. The election agent was Deian Hopkin.

Copies of minutes, press release and communication, correspondence with Deian Hopkin. The minutes dated 26 April 1958 were signed by Geraint Howells who in 1974 defeated the sitting Labour MP Elystan Morgan as the Liberal candidate.

How Red Was My Valley

"How Red Was My Valley" was a 3 part documentary on the history of the Labour Party in Wales to mark its centenary in 2000. It was originally entitled "Though Cowards Flinch", it was directed by Colin Thomas and written and presented by Deian Hopkin. It was broadcast on BBC2 Wales between 14th and 28th October 2000. The files contain correspondence leading the the commissioning of the series, correspondence between the producer, director and presenter, drafts of scripts, the final running order, contracts, details of viewing figures and some background material.
