The file comprises various newspaper cuttings, Nov. 1989-Oct. 1990, specifically dealing with aspects of the political career of the Conservative MP Sir Anthony Meyer, including his challenge to Margaret Thatcher's leadership of the Conservative Party; and his subsequent de-selection by the local Party in Clwyd North West as their candidate for the next General Election.

Appointment diaries, 1971-1983, kept by D. Elwyn Jones and used by him as a Party agent. The volumes note such events as Conservative Party branch meetings, Party Associations' annual general meetings, constituency surgeries, meetings of the Welsh branch of the Conservative and Unionist Agents' Association, meetings at the Party's Wales Central Office in Cardiff, various other local committee meetings, Party conferences, luncheons, etc.

Amongst the subjects covered are Wyn Roberts' decision to become the Conservative candidate for Conway, [1970]; D. Elwyn Jones' appointment as agent and secretary to the Conway Conservative Associations, [1971]; the theft of confidential files belonging to the Conservative 'Monday Club', [1972]; and D. Elwyn Jones' appearance on the television programme 'Mae'n Wlad i Minnau', 1985. The file also includes a large amount of cuttings showing pictures of adoption meetings, Christmas parties, annual dinners, luncheons, fairs, fetes, European visits, etc.

Elwyn Jones' resignation as agent and secretary to the Clwyd South West Association, Sept. 1992; the 'No' campaign in the referendum for a Welsh Assembly, Aug. 1997; parole for the convicted fire-bomber Siôn Aubrey Roberts, Dec. 1997; and his admission that he was a member of Meibion Glyndŵr, Jan. 1998; and bilingualism in the new Welsh Assembly, May 1998.

Bangor candidacy.

Material connected with D. Elwyn Jones' candidature for the local borough elections in Bangor, 1968, where he stood as the Conservative candidate in the Bangor south ward, including copies of election leaflets, draft handwritten statements subsequently printed on the leaflets, an election poster, notes for speeches and newspaper cuttings.
