The ring binder consists of: papers relating to conferences held by Christians Against Torture, 1981-2006; and copies of mailings presumably sent by Christians Against Torture which consists of an incomplete set of copies of Christians Against Torture Bulletin [No. 1-2 (1982)]; Newsletter [No. 2-3, 19-24, 26-31, 33-39, 42 (1985-2003)]; and Mailing (August 2003-2014).

Conferences

The file comprises papers, 1981-1999, relating mainly to conferences held by the movement; together with a copy of five papers delivered at The Scottish Inter-Church Conference on Human Rights, held at Dunblane, 1984, and papers relating to East Timor, 1993-1996.

The file comprises letters relating to the plight of 'disappeared' prisoners in Latin America and petitions on disappearances, 1984, and the abolition of torture, 1985.

Prisoner file of Gatot Lestario

The file comprises papers, 1983-1989, relating to Gatot Lestario, a history teacher from Indonesia and his wife Pudji Aswati, including photocopies of letters from him; he was executed in 1985 after 16 years in prison.

Capital punishment

The file comprises papers, 1990-1998, relating mainly to abolishing the death penalty, including the Fi.ACAT Action Campaign, 1995, against it in the USA.

Printed material

The series comprises publications, 1984-1995, relating mainly to 'disappeared' prisoners in Latin America; bilingual newsletters, March 1989-July 2000, produced by the Christians Against Torture Movement; and a copy of Robin Gwyndaf, Ai Ceidwad fy mrawd ydwyf i? (Lewis Valentine Memorial Lecture, 1991); together with some leaflets about the movement.

Disappeared prisoners

The file comprises publications, 1984-1995, of FEDEFAM (The Latin American Federation of Families of Disappeared Prisoners), mainly the information bulletin Hasta Encontrarlos and French publications relating to death.
