Papers, ca. 1849-1940, relating to the Barker family of Carmarthen and comprise a transcript, 1818 and 1838, by the Reverend John Crawford Barker of a memoir of his father, the Reverend William Higgs Barker, master of Carmarthen Grammar School, 1767-1796, and vicar of St Peter's, Carmarthen, 1796-1816; and a journal of a tour in Switzerland and Italy, 1863, by the Reverend Alleyne Higgs Barker, vicar of Rickmansworth and grandson of the Reverend William Higgs Barker, with comments, maps, sketches, photographs, related press cuttings, etc. added at a later date.

Memoir of William Higgs Barker,

A transcript [watermark 1849] of a memoir of the Reverend William Higgs Barker (1743-1816), master of Carmarthen Grammar School, 1767-96, and vicar of St Peter's Carmarthen, 1796-1816, first compiled in 1818 by his youngest son, the Reverend John Crawford Barker (b. ca. 1791), rector of St George's, Grenada, and rewritten by him in 1838; notes and corrections have been added by later hands.

Journal of a tour in Switzerland and Italy, 1863, by the Reverend Alleyne Higgs Barker (ca. 1805-1884), grandson of the Reverend William Higgs Barker, and vicar of Rickmansworth, co. Hertford; the journal, to which further comments have been added, 1865-1902, by A. H. Barker and others, includes maps showing routes taken; sketches, engravings and photographs; and related and other press cuttings, 1867-1940.
