Life of Agesilaus,

Unpublished autograph manuscript entitled 'The lyf of the good kyng Agesylayus wretten by the ffamvs Clerke Plutarke in the greke tovnge And traunslatyd out of Greke into latyn By Anthony Tudartyn And drawen out off Latyn into Englysche By me Henry Lord Morley and dedycat vnto the Right honorable Baron the lorde Croumwell Lord Pryvy Seall'. The translation is followed by 'The comparacyon of oure most Dere end Gratyovs Sou'ayne lord kyng Henry [VIII] to this Agesylayus kyng of the lacydymones'. Preceding the translation is a draft of a letter, dated 20 November 1602, from William Kenrike, clerk of the Court of the Council in the Marches, from Ludlow, to Edward L[a] Zouche, Lord President of the Council: The writer presents this volume to his lordship 'insted of other p'sents', and expresses the opinion that it is 'the verey same booke that was ffirst dedicated and p'sented'.
