A view of the Hotel and Llyn Efyrnwy, the well-known tower in the background. This appears be the original negative that produced the image copied in JPJ019. Interestingly the original title written on this negative reads "27. Vyrnwy Hotel and Lake pub. by E.C. Burns" implying this is one in a series of postcards. In addition an adhesive label on the negative reads "Welshpool 2868"

Crowds watching the sod-cutting ceremony at Pontywaen by the Countess of Powis. In the foreground are two large marquees whilst the ceremony is taking place in the distance under a banner that reads "Success to the Tanat Valley Light Railway."
