Diary

The diary, 1923 -1928, records his first visit to Skokholm, 7 June 1927, and lists the birds seen on Skomer. On 12 September he notes that 'Late Do[ris] and I decided to rent the Island, but to stay on the farm for a year, to see if things go well' and the move to the island on 16 October. Their wedding day on 12 July 1928 is described.

The diary, 1933-1935, records his visit to Grassholm (7-14 June 1934) to film 'The private life of the gannets’, and attending the film premiere on 21 December at Leicester Square. It was awarded an Academy award for best documentary.
