Letters To Thomas Gee Relating To A Charge Of Infringement Of Copyright. Nine autograph letters to Thomas Gee charging him with infringement of copyright. The charge is made by William Hughes, Dolgellau, publisher of Y Dydd. Mr Hughes alleged that Mr Gee introduced into Caniadau y Cyssegr a'r Teulu, published in 1878, a number of tunes from a collection called Aberth Moliant which were Mr Hughes's copyright. He claimed to have acquired the copyright from William Rees, 'Gwilym Hiraethog'. He threatened legal proceedings through a solicitor and the matter remained unsolved at the time of the last letter (July 1884). [Old List, March 1936, II; May 1936, No. 8].

Letters To Thomas Gee And Son, Relating To An Alleged Libel Published In Baner Ac Amserau Cymru. The alleged libel was against the Reverend T. C. Benjamin, minister of Pisgah Congregational Chapel, Talgarreg, Cardiganshire, who had acted as the literary adjudicator at the Llanarth Eisteddfod. He was accused of partiality and complicity by two correspondents of Baner ac Amserau Cymru. Mr Benjamin threatened legal proceedings against the correspondents and the publishers, unless a public apology appeared in Baner ac Amserau Cymru. These thirty three letters and telegrams represent an attempt by the different parties to arrive at an amicable settlement.
