Journal of a voyage to America by John Rees (1819-1900) of Granant (later of Hendre), St Dogmaels, Pembrokeshire, 1847; together with miscellaneous papers of his three sons Willie Rees (b. 1893), Joseph Watkin Rees (1894-1976) and Benjamin Rees (b. 1896).

A volume containing a journal, 12 June-4 October 1847, of John Rees, recording his voyage, in the company of his brother Daniel, from Liverpool to New York and their journey via the Erie Canal, New York State, and the Great Lakes to Milwaukie [sic], Wisconsin, followed by their exploration of parts of Wisconsin, in search of land to settle (ff. 1-26 verso).
Also included loose with the volume are two letters, 1897, from the Rev. David (or Dafydd) Probert, Youngstown, Ohio, to John Rees, by that time returned home to St Dogmaels; and a photograph, probably of John Rees.

Papers, 1914-[?1930s], relating to the sons of John Rees, comprising fourteen photographs, mostly [1916]-[1918], including portraits of Joseph Watkin Rees and Cpl Benjamin Rees, and group photographs of UCW Aberystwyth students and soldiers of 306th Siege Battery R.G.A., several of which include Benjamin Rees; four letters to Benjamin Rees, 1918, one from J. W. Rees, 18 January 1918 (envelope only), and another from Willie Rees, St Deiniol's Library, Hawarden, 21 March 1918; and printed material relating to J. W. Rees, comprising an UCW Aberystwyth Old Students' Association 'Reunion Song Book for Easter 1914', 'Memoirs of the 331st Brigade R.F.A. 1914-1919', [?early 1920s], and 331 Brigade R.F.A. Old Members' Association booklet, [?1930s].
