Opus 23: A Little Cantata: Ten Traditional Rhymes for Childrens’ Voices and Piano

Original ink score, dated 23 May-8 June 1966, and titled 'Opus 23: A Little Cantata: Ten Traditional Rhymes for Children’s Voices and Piano'. The score consists of parts based on the rhymes 'Blow, Wind, Blow' (dated 23 May 1966); 'Wine and Cakes' (dated 24 May 1966); 'Peter' (dated 23 May 1966); 'Terence McDiddler' (dated 26 May 1966); 'Tommy Trot' (dated 26 May 1966); 'Three a-bed' (dated 5 June 1966); 'Pipe, Cat' (dated 5 June 1966); 'Grey Goose' (dated 8 June 1966); 'Barber' (dated 7 June 1966); and 'Four Winds' (dated 8 June 1966). Dedicated to Catrin and Ceri.

Opus 43: Piano Concerto No.1

Draft score in pencil, titled 'Opus 43: Piano Concerto No.1'. Included with the manuscript is a typed descriptive and biographical note relating to the works and career of David Harries (undated). Commissioned by the Llandaff Festival, 1977.

Opus 66: String Quartet No.3

Full original ink score, dated 1993 and titled 'Opus 66: String Quartet No.3'. The score is made up of nine parts: part 1, 'Prologue'; part 2, 'Sonata'; part 3, 'Fugue 1'; part 4, 'Roundelay'; part 5, 'Fugue 2'; part 6, 'Scherzo'; part 7, 'Fugue 3'; part 8, 'Capriccio'; and part 9, 'Epilogue'. Commissioned for the 1993 Lower Machen Festival in association with the Welsh Arts Council, and dedicated to Julia Chapple, Royston Havard and the Lower Machen Festival.

Opus 1: Introduction (Quasi Notturno) and Allegro Scherzoso for String Quintet

Ink score with pencil annotations, dated April-May 1952, titled Opus 1: 'Introduction (Quasi Notturno) and Allegro Scherzoso for String Quintet', based on the Welsh folk melodies ‘Hun Gwenllian’ and ‘Hela’r 'Sgyfarnog’. The score includes parts for violins 1 and 2, viola, and cellos 1 and 2. A title note added indicates that this piece was first performed at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, March 1953, and was awarded a prize at the National Eisteddfod, Aberystwyth, 1952. Dedicated to Grace Williams.
