Some ninety-eight letters, postcards and telegrams, 1898-1940, addressed to Annie J. Davies (later Ellis, later Hughes-Griffiths). The correspondents include [E.] Vincent Evans, T. Gwynn Jones (3), J. Herbert Lewis (3), David Lloyd George, Margaret Lloyd George, Lord Rendel (6), C. A. F. Rhys Davids (2), W. Llewelyn Williams and [Sir] John Williams (2).
Also included are some six miscellaneous family letters; together with a letter, 25 February 1911, from J. Lloyd Williams to Mrs Mary Davies (Mair Mynorydd) concerning the work of the Welsh Folksong Society (presumably passed on by Mary Davies to her friend Annie Ellis).

Letters from W. Llewelyn Williams to O. M. Edwards

The file comprises letters in which W. Llewelyn Williams discusses his researches and historical writings, his prospective applications for posts, his editorial and journalistic work, and his political ambitions. There are many references to columns in newspapers and to articles in journals, some of them edited by O. M. Edwards. Several letters refer to the vacancies in the parliamentary representation of Merionethshire following the premature death of Thomas Edward Ellis MP in April 1899 and the subsequent decision of O. M. Edwards to retire in 1900.

The letters, 1895-1919, refer to national and political events, interspersed with personal and family news. There are often arrangements to visit. The letters also refer to books, and press columns and articles which Williams had read in newspapers and journals. There are also occasional references to the author's legal work.
