A letter dated 26 August 1665, signed by King Charles II (1630-1685) and sent, per the Earl of Carlingford [d. 1677], from Salisbury, whither the English Court had removed owing to the plague, to 'Mon Cousin, L'Euesque de Munster', i.e. Christopher Bernard von Ghalen, prince-bishop of Munster, Westphalia, ally of England in the Anglo-Dutch war.

Copy of an order from Charles II to the earl of Carbery, 19 December 1660, that he must prevent unlawful meetings and tumults, search for weapons in hands of disaffected persons, and seize them.

A volume containing some one hundred and sixty-three letters and other papers, 1576-1810, mostly of the Davies family of Llanerch and Gwysaney or of the related families of Mutton, Whitehall and Dod (ff. 1, 3-92, 97 verso-98), together with a few later additions, 1813-[late 19 cent.] (ff. 2, 3a, 11a recto-verso, 18 verso, 40a).
